Comet in Moominland by Tove Jansson

The book “Comet in Moominland” is about a family of Moomins (Moomintroll Moominmama and Moominpapa) and their friends.  When The Muskrat goes to the Moomin house where Moominmama, Moominpapa, Sniff and Moomintroll live to complain about the bridge, he stays at the Moomin house for a little while. The next day Moomintroll was talking to the Muskrat and found out that a comet was coming to hit earth. Moomintroll and Sniff set out to go to the observatory in the Lonely Mountains. On the way they meet Snufkin who never stays anywhere, Snork and the Snorkmaiden, who change color every time they get emotional, the Hemulen, who has a cousin who collects bugs and the mischievous silk monkey.  When they all go back to Moomin valley, they learn that The Muskrat sent word that a comet would be coming.  Everyone was going to get as far away possible from the comet.  Snork, Snorkmaiden, Sniff, the Hemulen, Moomin and Snufkin gather food and a lamp and set of for Sniff’s cave with Moominmama and Moominpapa.  When the comet comes the Moomins think it destroys the earth but it didn’t.  Instead it went off to another galaxy. The Moomins didn’t know so in the end they thought they were the only people on earth.

            This book reminds me of Moomin Papa at Sea. This book is another book from the Moomintroll series. This is about how Moomintroll is displeased with Moomin valley. It is similar to Comet in Moomin land because he makes friends with a creature called the Groke that freezes every thing it touches. And he makes friends with the seahorses too.

            I would recommend this book to someone who likes stories about fictional creatures and adventures because this book and series are full of them.
