Twilight by stephenie meyer

Twilight is a romance novel by Stephenie Meyer about a high school age girl name Bella. The book begins when bella moves to live with her dad the fictinal town of Forks. Twilight is mainly about how Bella falls in love with Edward, who is a vampire. The book is centered their love and the danger that Bella is constantly in because Edward is a vampire.

This book is (obviously) a romance but does have some fantasy elements like vampires and werewolves. It is similar to the book Shiver which also a romance between a human girl and a mythical boy. I would suggest this book to anyone who enjoyed shiver.

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, is about Hannah Baker, a teenage girl who comits suiside. Just before she dies she makes 13 audiotapes and each one is about one person who did something that lead to her comiting suicide. Before she dies she mails the tapes so they can be passed between the thirteen people the tapes are about. the story is told from the perspective of Clay Jenson, a boy who is on the tapes, as he listens to them all in one night. It's set in a suburban town where everyone goes to the same school.
I really liked this book even though I personally think the way Hannah reacted to alot of the reasons is melo dramatic. I would suggest this book the someone who likes books by John Green like paper towns and the fualt in our stars. I would also recomend this book to people who like content heavey books with a lot characters that go in and out of the story.

The Boy who Harnessed the Wind - Bryan Mealer and William Kamkwamba

The Boy who Harnessed the Wind is a true story of a boy growing up in Malawi on a maize farm, like most of the county when an enormous flood hits followed by a dry and long drought. farms are dying and as the family loses money they have to take their kids out of school leaving young William Kamkwamba to create his own education. he manages to convince his friends to help him with his plan to save his family.
This book is inspiring and breath taking, I didn't even think it was possible until in the middle of the book there are pictures that prove it, it really is an amazing book, and thats coming from someone that hates non-fiction

A Mango Shaped Space

By Wendy Mass

A Mango Shaped Space, by Wendy Mass, is about a girl named Mia who sees a life in color.   Numbers, letters, and sound each have their own color but only she knows this. As she gets older her secret is revealed and she has to choose between embracing or hiding her gift which is called synesthesia. Mango is the name of her beloved cat that helps her deal with her problems. One theme I got out of the book is that you don't realize that how amazing something is or how grateful you are until it is gone.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes young adult fiction with characters that come to life. This book is connected to another book, Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper. They are similar because they are both about people who see the world differently. Both authors describe a character that takes something that may seem bad but ends up good in the end.

The Martian, by Andy Wier

The Martian
Andy Weir

This book was based on a scenario of a Mars mission going wrong. Astronaut Mark Watney was struck by a sharp cable during a meteor shower and his crew left him for dead and alone on Mars with no way to escape and limited supplies. Astronaut Mark Watney continually used all of his science knowledge to survive. For example, he used his and the rest of the other astronauts’ waste as fertiliser in his hab to grow potatoes. Despite all odds his crew came back to rescue him in a brave and daring escape which had a mid-space full-speed pick up. There is constant suspense throughout the book to see if he will make it back alive to earth.

The main portion of the book is about his survival on mars and him overcoming challenges. There  really were only two main characters and only one was human. Mark Watney, or as he called himself the “Martian,” had a kindergartener sense of humor, but had lots of skill which helped him survive on Mars. The only other true character  was his environment; it was never in his favor. For example, either it was 100 degrees above or 100 degrees below, there were constant meteor showers or 70 mile per hour gusts and Mars never gave him the upper hand.

This book connected to me because I enjoy learning tricks to survive in impossible situations. This book would constantly add comedy which kept the story moving .  I would recommend this book to someone who loves suspense, science and some comedy.

How To Speak Cat by Aline Alexander Newman and Gary Weitzman, D.V.M.

How To Speak Cat  by Aline Alexander Newman and Gary Weitzman, D.V.M. is a wonderful and light-hearted non-fiction book.
The book is all about how to communicate and build a better relationship with your cat. The book is divided into different sections by using silly names that correspond to cat and how to tell what your cat is saying when it is using its whole body. It also has ways to help change behavioral problems. Plus, it has fun quizzes so you can remember what you've learned, understand real scenarios, and have some fun.
I think any cat lover would enjoy this interactive how to do book very very much, I sure did.

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children

By Ransom Riggs

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs is a thrilling, moving, and suspenseful novel.
The story takes place on a tiny island off the coast of Wales, Great Britain. After his grandfather dies, Jacob sets off on a journey to learn more about his grandfather's past. After traveling through a time loop, he meets the kids that his grandfather grew up with, and he learns the secret that his grandfather had kept his whole life. And Jacob realizes a power within himself that can protect him and the other kids from horrors that he could have never imagined. But danger is near, and Jacob must use his power, with the help of his new friends' powers, they can make the impossible happen.
Between the pages of this mystery are photographs that go along with the story, which I found myself looking forward to with each page I turned. Two more books follow this one, the second one in the series (which I also much enjoyed) is called Hollow City, and the third one (also great) is called Library of Souls. In addition, the first book is now a MOVIE!!! You should definitely go see that, but first, read the book!

Panic

One book I read this summer was called Panic by Sharon M. Draper. This book, I have been wanting to read since the fourth grade. But apparently according to my sister, I wasn't mature enough. But this summer, I was. And can I say one thing, I am sooooo glad I did not read this as a 4th grader.
Panic, by Sharon M. Draper is about a girl named Diamond. Diamond is a ballerina. She knows she is good, but she never gets cast as a lead in her recitals. But one day in the mall, a strange handsome man gives her the opportunity of a lifetime. One she can't pass up. But this decision can take a toll on not only Diamond, but everyone around her. (Trust me...it will)
I recommend this book to mature people! Please! You are in for a shock!

Stonebird

By Mike Revell

Stonebird by Mike Revell is a thought-provoking and intriguing story that we can all relate to. This book shows how you can overcome challenges by having faith and keeping an open mind.
Liam, ten years old, and his family move to be closer to his grandmother who suffers from dementia. Liam has left behind almost everything he has ever known, and now he must find his way through a new school, a new neighborhood, and his grandmother's illness. He gets bullied at school, his mother is greatly depressed, and his sister is constantly sneaking out of the house to who knows where. But worst of all, he must face these challenges completely alone. Well, almost alone. One day while Liam is walking his dog, he discovers an old stone gargoyle in a rundown church, and it has the ability to come to life and act out stories that Liam imagines. But his grandmother is getting worse, and his family is struggling. the situation is dire. Is the gargoyle the only thing that can save Liam's family? Or will it tear apart and destroy his family altogether?
This one-of-a-kind story shows how anyone can make it through a struggle with a heart full of hope. And if you've ever wondered how far a story can go, this is the book for you.

The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin

I read the book "The Thing About Jellyfish" by Ali Benjamin this summer.  This book is about two girls and their friendship, but after one drowns, the other girl struggles to face her friend's death, while trying to figure out how she died.

Suzy the main character's life was great up until middle school, when Suzy and her best friend Franny slowly melted apart. After breaking up for the summer, Franny drowns in Maine, even though Suzy knew she was an excellent swimmer. That's when Suzy loses her friend for good and decides to shut herself away from the real world. During a school trip to the aquarium the next year, Suzy wanders into a jellyfish exhibit. Suzy is soon obsessed with the idea that Franny had been stung and killed by a jellyfish. She decides it is her mission to find out what happened to her long lost friend, Franny. In the end, Suzy realises that she has to accept the idea that her friend is gone, and even finding out what really happened to her won't change that she's dead.

Suzy faces middle school popularity, family drama, and friendship struggles throughout the book. I connected to this book because I've had some girl dramas of my own. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes complex characters.

In this adventure she and her friends have to pass  special task to find her missing father, but will they manage to find him?

I would recommend this  book to people who like to read adventure books and mistery.

Lord of the Flies by William Golding

This summer I read "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding. This book is about a group of school boys who land on an unknown island after their plane has crashed, around the dawn of World War II.

The books opens with the boys meeting to discuss who will be their leader. Stranded, without any adults, fun and adventure are the only things on everyone's mind. Ralph, the main character and also the chief, feels responsible for the boys on the island and believes his father will come rescue them. He decides that keeping a fire going all the time that will alert passing ships. Jack, the antagonist, is obsessed with the ideas of hunting and violence. However, the forest accidentally burns down, a "littlun" (a younger boy) goes missing after warning the group of a so-called beast. A fight starts among the boys after a ship passes by when the fire's out. As the book goes on, the "littluns" have more and more nightmares about something in the woods and terror rises among the boys. Order falls, and the boys have to pick sides. Rescue or the hunt for the beast.

I connected to this book because it tells the lesson of the beast within us. This book also tells the story of young adults turning savage while explaining the scary side of human nature. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes horror or books with deep messages.

Title: The Fault in our Stars
Author: John Green
So I read the fault in our stars over the summer, and the story is about a girl named Hazel, and how she falls in love with a boy named Augustus Waters. It's a story on how they go to Amsterdam, and how eventually they have to say goodbye. This book connects to the world around me because it focuses on another type of person that isn't really represented in today's media, and it's good for people out there who can say, "Oh, this person looks like me." I think that's really important for people to see themselves in the media, and it really sucks when you don't see people that look like you. I would recommend This book to my mom, because she was diegnosed with cancer, (thankfully she is now 100% cancer free,) but I think that she would really like reading a story about someone like her.

Title: The Unwanteds
Author: Lisa MCMann
I read the Unwanteds over the summer, and it is about a land named quill, and two brothers, Aaron and Alex Stowe. In quill creativity is banned, and there are wanteds, necessarys, and unwanteds. Aaron is a wanted, and Alex is an unwanted. This book connects to me, because I see myself as very creative, so if I lived in a world like quill, I don't know what I would do. I would recommend this book to my brother, because he LOVES everything sci fi and sci fi books.

Title: Paper Towns
Author: John Green
I read the book Paper Towns over the summer, and it's about a boy named Quentin has the most popular girl in school Margo askes him to do a bunch of crazy tasks with him in the middle of the night. The next day at school she disappears, so him and his freinds go looking for her. I would recommend this book to my mom's partner Jeanne, because she loves books like these.

Zoe Loprest- Thirteen Treasures by Michelle Harrison

Zoe Loprest
Book Report
Thirteen Treasures
August 20th

The book Thirteen Treasures by Michelle Harrison uses many classic themes of fantasy such as mythical creatures, magic, and the ideas of good and evil. When Tanya Fairchild is sent to her grandmother on account of her unnatural ability to see and interact with fairies, goblins, and other fantastical creatures. Though she hopes to possibly escape the fairy life she’s used to, the only thing she escapes is her bitter mother and her mother’s fear of Tanya’s power. Her grandmothers house is still infested with the pesky creatures, as well as a seemingly annoying boy named Fabian, a faithful dog, named Oberon, a Persian cat, and the peculiar stone faced watch guard named Amos. As Fabian and Tanya live in the mansion longer they encounter peculiar things and eventually begin to uncover the mystery behind Morwenna Bloom-a girl who went missing, fairy life, and an uninvited guest Rowan, and some secrets her grandmother may be hiding.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a mystery, and a suspenseful fantasy story.  Thirteen treasures, although very complex, is an interesting story you can’t put down for to long. The characters are each thoroughly developed and unique and Michelle Harrison uses a compelling voice to make every chapter of this book intense. I look forward to reading the remainder of this series, as I am sure it will use the same voice and have the same action as Thirteen Treasures.

Eleanor And Park By Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor And Park By Rainbow Rowell is a novel about a teenage girl named Eleanor who starts at a new school and meets a boy named Park. Eleanor is a quirky girl and a lot of people at her school make fun of her.  On the first day of school Eleanor gets on the bus and there are no more seats left except one next to Park. Park thinks that she is the weirdest girl ever and hates that she sits next to him every day. Eventually Eleanor and Park start to talk more and then they fall in love.
Eleanor lives with her 4 siblings and her mom and her mom's husband, Richie. Richie is a horrible man and he really has it out for Eleanor.  Eleanor also does not fit in at school and the kids bully her a lot.  Park lives with his mom, dad and his younger brother, and to Eleanor they are a "perfect" family.  Eleanor starts to spend a lot of time with Park but has to hide this from Richie, the mean stepfather.
This book is beautifully written and you will not want to stop reading.  There is a lot of drama at the end - I won't give away the details!   I recommend this book to someone who likes romance or realistic fiction, or even both.

Al Capone Does My Shirts By Gennifer Choldenko

Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Cholenko is a historical fiction book. It shows what life would be like if you were a kid living on Alcatraz Island in the 1930s, but not because you were in jail there. Many people might not know this, but there were apartments that you could live in on Alcatraz.  People lived there because their husbands worked in the Alcatraz jail and it was much cheaper to live there.
The main character's name is Moose Flanagan.  His family moves to Alcatraz because his dad has a job working at the jail.  Moose meets a girl named Piper who also lives on the Island and they go to the same school that is off the Island.  Piper is nothing but trouble and she even gets Moose into trouble.  You will have to read to find out the details.
Moose has a sister named Natalie who is Autistic and their mom really wants her to get into a special school where she will supposedly be "cured."  Moose has to take care of Natalie on Alcatraz and they run into some adventures and problems.
I recommend this book to people who like historical fiction and stories about families.  You can learn more about Alcatraz and what it was like to live on the Island in the 1930s.  It was a fun book to read.

The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin

Somehow, in the first few weeks of 7th grade, Suzy Swanson managed to disapear, or at least, that's what it seemed like. Ever since she found out Franny Jackson-her only friend- had drowned a few days before school had started, it felt like her usual constant talking wasn't an option, so for the past four weeks she hasn't.
Suzy had always noticed Franny stopping to talk to people that Suzy didnt even know before sitting down, but the unthinkable had happened in 6th grade when Franny doesn't sit down next to Suzy, but with Audrey. Remembering Franny's plea not to become like Audrey back in 2nd grade, Suzy sends Franny her 'big message' for help, but it just ends in tears.
Seeking forgiveness from her dead best friend, Suzy-knowing her friend's swimming skill- comes up with a real reason for Franny drowning. With her knowledge about jellyfish and further research, she sets up a plan to visit jellyfish expert Jamie Seymour in Australia, alone. When her planned trip goes awry, she finds herself home again with her family, but an unexpected call leads to the school dance, and the book ends with unexpected friendships.
I would recommend this book to people that like informational books or books with weird characters.

                                                     Night, By Elie Wiesel

Night is one of the greatest stories of the Holocaust, and how horrible it was. Elie Wiesel describes himself as a boy with his father, who are Jewish, and how they end up being deported to Auschwitz. The true story describes their struggle to survive the Holocaust during the 1940's. Before he was deported to concentration camps, as a young boy he used to believe in god, and wanted to study religion (the Kabbalah), but when he was deported, and people were getting killed all around him, he did not believe in god anymore, because it seemed that his god was "killed" by the Nazis.
This book is the most amazing and saddest book I have ever read. I would recommend this book to all ages for people to learn about how horrible the Holocaust was, and how we should never do this kind of thing again...

I Am Malala

By Malala Yousafzai (with Christina Lamb)

I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai (with Christina Lamb) is a truly wonderful and inspiring book. If you read this autobiography, you will realize what great challenges this individual faced and how she managed to overcome these challenges.
Malala was born in "a land where rifles are fired in celebration of a son, while daughters are hidden away behind a curtain, their role in life simply to prepare food and give birth to children." This means that there were many gender-based stereotypes that Malala had to fight, even from the moment she was born! And fight she did. When she started to see that girls were being denied the rights to go to school and get an education, she stood up to that discrimination and spoke out to her local community (and eventually even news reporters), telling them how important it is for everybody, regardless of gender, to get a quality education. Unfortunately, a militant group (the Taliban) did not approve of girls attending school, much less people fighting against them for things that they disagreed with, and they turned violent. As one of the people fighting against the Taliban, Malala was affected by this violence in a way that no one should ever be in their entire lives.
This true story of a young girl fighting for education can show the importance of standing up for a cause that you believe is right, no matter how dire the situation is, and how much one can accomplish if they put their minds to it. I hope that you read the book and find it just as inspiring as I did.

Tiny Pretty Things

By Dhonielle Clayton & Sona Charaipotra

Tiny Pretty Things by Dhonielle Clayton and Sona Charaipotra is one of my favorite books of all time! And I am sure it will be your favorite too after you read it. I read this book twice! Tiny Pretty Things is set at a prestigous dance school called the American Ballet conservatory. Dance is taken very seriously here. So when there is a main role up for grabs, everyone will do whatever it takes. And when I say whatever it takes, I mean it. The main characters Gigi, Bette, and June all want to be on the top. Even if it means someone getting hurt. New comer Giselle Stewart doesn't know the sacrifices it takes to be on the top. Giselle Stewart stands out because she is the only African American in the ABC. But she wants to prove that she is the best dancer there. June forever lives in the wings because she is always the understudy. And she fights for that one moment where the spotlight can be on her. Bette on the other hand has a reputation to hold, living in the shadow of her big sister, and dating one of the ABC's most talented male dancers, and being one of the most talented dancers. But once Gigi comes along, Bette realizes she can lose it all.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery and drama, and shocking events. This book is from the same publishers who brought you Pretty Little Liars. But by the time you are done with your book, you will realize that there are a little cliff hangers in this book. Well don't sit at the edge of your seat and scream (like I did😥.) Because there's a sequel! *Squeal!* But I can guarantee, you will love this book!
P.S. The sequel is even better! It's called Shiny Broken Pieces! Look in Barnes & Nobles. That's where I got it yesterday. But I might've taken the last one!

Thirteen Reasons Why

By Jay Asher
Thirteen reasons why is about Hannah Baker a girl who committed suicide but before she did that she made thirteen tapes, reasons why she did. The book takes place in a small town that everyone knows who everyone is.  Each tape was about a person that person would get to hear the tapes and passes it down to the next. Clay Jensen was on the tapes the book is about him listening to them while you too get to hear what Hannah has to say. The book is about his reactions.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes realistic fiction or young adult novels.
This book is connected to the world because stuff like this happens. This book makes you realize how careful you should be around other people because one little mistake or mean thing could affect their life and make such a big difference.

Counting by 7's by Holly Goldberg Sloan

Counting by 7's is about a quirky girl, Willow Chance and her life as a new middle school student. Being a genius, she got a perfect score on one of the first tests of the year- the only one in the state to do so- but everybody seems to think she cheated. So after having a long talk with the principal, it is decided she will see a behavioral counselor named Dell Duke. Their sessions are awkward and not productive, but one day, when Willow shows up early to her session, she meets Mai and her brother, Quang-ha, and they soon become the first friends Willow has had in a while. But one day, when Dell Duke drives them home, they find Willow's house surrounded by cop cars. After eavesdropping on Dell's conversation with the cops, she finds out her parents-the only people that have ever loved her- have died. Thankfully, Mai and her family, and Dell Duke, are by her side.
If you like books with a lot of up's and downs, but have a happy ending, you should read Counting by 7's.

Book Report of: The Blood of Olympus By Rick Riordan

In The Blood of Olympus there are two stories that go parallel to each other and meet in the end for the final battle at camp Half- Blood.  Let us begin with the question I guess you were wondering about in my other report : Who is Bringing the Parthenos? Well on the beginning of the voyage of the Argo II A satyr named Gleeson Hedge was brought along as a chaperone. They also have to save a son of Hades Nico de Angelo also there frenemy from getting slain by giants. There is also the Praetor of the Roman Camp Jupiter Reyna Avila Ramirez-Arellano. All three of these people are not part of the seven to go to olympus so they have to deliver the Parthenos to Camp Half- Blood but when they make it there to stop the war the Reyna has to deliver the Parthenos to the greeks because the romans stole it and to give it back is like making up for it. In the end the war is stopped. Now lets go to the others who are now in Athens They mack it up to the Parthenon were they have a bloody battle Giants VS Demigods now in order to wake Gaea you need to have the blood of a male and female Demigod. In this Battle two of these Demigods of the seven shed Percy, Annabeth, Hazel, Frank, Piper or Jason shed blood awakening Gaea. Gaea is awakened but the giants are killed by the seven demigods and the gods. Now the gang has to help the demigods in Long Island kill Gaea this all happens by one demigod Leo who gets killed by killing Gaea in the air or the Ouranous method. Now everyone is Happy and the world does not end.

This book is inspiring and breath taking, I didn't even think it was possible until in the middle of the book there are pictures that prove it. It really is an amazing book, and thats coming from someone that hates non-fiction.

Book Report of: The House of Hades By Rick Riordan

Book Report of:

The House of Hades By Rick Riordan

Summary of The House of Hades

The House of Hades  is a chronicle of the adventures of Demigods Percy, Annabeth, Piper, Jason, Frank, and Leo to stop the Greek earth god Gaea and her giants who want to take over the world and destroy the Greek gods. So far Percy and Jason have united the seven which are Greek and Roman by Hera or Juno Erasing these two's memory's and switching there lives so Roman Jason becomes Greek while Percy becomes Roman. Both of them have to go on some sort of quest. In the end they make friends with "enemy" Demigods because of Roman Greek rivalry. Now on the Argo II Annabeth has found the Athena Parthenos and have too choose to let Gaea awaken and go home to stop the Romans and Greeks from having war, return the Parthenos and leave Percy and Annabeth in Tartarus who fell while saving Annabeth from Arachne. They chose to go to the doors of death to save them. In Tartarus they send a note to camp Half- Blood which is were Greek Demigods stay. There They set up a plan. Now our friends on both sides are heading to the doors of Death. Here at the doors there is a fight on both sides one is Tartarus vs one of the giants who don't like Gaea and on the other side It is Hazel Hectate  vs Clytus. In the end everyone is "safe on the Argo II and the Paethenos is on the way to camp half-blood.

An Abundance of Katherines by John Green

One book I read over the summer was An Abundance of Katherines which is a book by John Green about a child prodigy named Colin Singleton, who has dated 19 girls all named Katherine. But when the nineteenth Katherine ends up dumping him,  Colin and his friend Hassan go on a road trip. They find themselves in the small town of Gunshot, and meet some pretty awesome, and also really mean people. While there, Colin spends much of his time working on a formula to predict relationships. One thing that's really cool about the book is that there are footnotes and graphs that Colin draws while creating his formula. In the end, Colin realizes that the future is unknown and that you can't always know what will happen next in your life.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a super funny book with crazy characters and events.

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

Over the summer I read Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin. This book is about a 15 year-old girl, Elizabeth, that dies in a car crash. Instead of just passing away, she wakes up on a boat going to a place called 'Elsewhere'. It's just like Earth, except it's for the dead. As you age forward on Earth, you age backwards in Elsewhere.  At first, Liz thought her new life on Elsewhere was terrible, but slowly, she adjusts to love this new world. She meets her long gone grandmother, Betty, and a detective, Owen Welles, who she soon befriends. While still keeping sight of her family's lives through observation docks, she spends her 15.5 years in Elsewhere with them, until she is a baby again, and is wrapped up in a blanket, and sent back to Earth with no memories of her former life. At first, Liz thought her new life on Elsewhere was terrible, but slowly, she adjusts to love this new world.

If you like science fiction/fantasy books, or books with an alternate reality, you should read Elsewhere.

                                Goblin Secrets By William Alexander

In Goblin Secrets by William Alexander, The main character, Rownie, Is a small boy with a bigger brother named Rowan. They both live in a small town called Zombay. When there Mother drowns in Zombay's Vast river, They have no choice but to live with this old lady named Graba, who has mechanical legs. She has other orphans that she calls grubs. When Rownie's brother Vanishes out of nowhere, It is up to Rownie to find out Where he vanished. Rownie suspects it's his brothers love to act, which is severely outlawed in Zombay.

When you first look at Goblin Secrets by William Alexander, You might think Wow! This is a great book! But when you start reading it, it is like the most boring book ever. It has very little action, and is very confusing. Some of it doesn't make sense. I would not recommend this book to people who like action in books, and do not like confusing parts in books. This is definitely not the best book I have ever read.

The Fault In Our Stairs by John Green

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green is an extremely touching book about two teens with cancer who meet and fall in love. This book may make you cry; it has given me a new perspective on life and made me realize how lucky I am to be healthy.  It has also made me realize that I take things for granted. This book will show what real friendship is and what real love is. It is a page turner and you will want to keep reading till the end off the book.
I recommend this book to someone who likes romance books.

Paper Towns by John Green

Paper Towns by John Green is a mystery about a teenage girl named Margo who has gone missing.  She disappears from Orlando, Florida before graduating from high school.  She leaves clues for her neighbor Quentin who goes to her school and who she has known since they were little.  They were friends when they were little, but she had never really reached out to him until one night  she arrived at his window and they went all around the city together.  The next day she was gone. And Quentin realizes that he loves her and that he has to find her.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes mysteries and romance.  It kept my attention and I wanted to read to the end to see what happened to Margo.

It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini

It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini is a hilarious yet touching novel. The book is about a suicidal teen named Craig who checks himself into the hospital after making a plan to kill himself. He became depressed after he was excepted to a prestigious school in NYC and the work overwhelms him. On top of that, his best friend Aaron is dating the girl he (thinks) he likes, and is also addicted to drugs. Craig doesn't tell anybody that he is depressed except for his family and Nia, Aaron's girlfriend, who is depressed as well. At the Hospital, Craig meets some very strange friends, and discovers the source of his problems.
I would recommend this book to people who like comedy and romance. This book may be about depression, but isn't depressing in the slightest. It's actually very entertaining and is nearly impossible to put down.

Piecing Me Together By Renèe Watson

One of the books I read this summer was Piecing Me Together by Renèe Watson. This is by far one of the best books I have ever read. (I am now tempted to read it a second time!😆) This story is about a teenager named Jade who lives in the "dangerous" part of Portland Oregon. She has a scholarship to a not so diverse private school. And in her community, there are not many opportunities. So when an opportunity comes her way, she makes sure she takes advantage of it. However one of the opportunities she comes across is not that helpful. It's a mentorship program for non-priveleged girls. Jade feels misunderstood from her mentor Maxine because she feels that Maxine doesn't know what it's like to not have a lot of opportunities.
I recommend this book to people who like complex characters. However, this book does not come out until February 14, 2017. (Sorry to keep you at the edge of your seats. I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy!) But be on the look out for this book in bookstores!

The End by Lemoney Snicket

The book I read was The End by Lemoney Snicket. I thought that this book was an excellent ending to the long, mysterious Series Of Unfortunate Events. In this volume of the series, the three orphans, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire,  are shipwrecked on a coastal shelf (an underwater landmass which extends from a continent, resulting in an area of shallow water) after a long storm. They are soon found by the nearby islanders, and discover that the islanders have some strange customs, such as drinking fermented coconut water, all day every day. They live on the island for a short period of time and attempt to solve the unexplainable mystery that is their life. I thought the novel did a great job of summing up the 13-book series. Nearly all of the strange events that occurred in the previous books were explained, with the exception of the all- important sugar bowl. (I shall say no more!)
I would recommend this book to mystery lovers, although I advise that you read the previous 12 books before this one. (GASP!) I know, I know, but it is completely worth it because the Baudelaire's story is not one to miss.

Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh

Hyperbole and a Half is a hazardously funny variation of an auto biography that originated from a blog depicting the childhood life of Allie Brosh using downright hilarious pictures, of her design and make, and short paragraphs to show some of her funnier stories. Each narrative is a chapter in the overall book of short stories.  (Blog of one of the stories (not in book)       If your in the mood for an extremely easy read and wants to laugh then this is an amazing book for you, of course it always amazing but still (At one point I had to get out of bed and into an upright position to keep from suffocating).
