Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

Over the summer I read Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin. This book is about a 15 year-old girl, Elizabeth, that dies in a car crash. Instead of just passing away, she wakes up on a boat going to a place called 'Elsewhere'. It's just like Earth, except it's for the dead. As you age forward on Earth, you age backwards in Elsewhere.  At first, Liz thought her new life on Elsewhere was terrible, but slowly, she adjusts to love this new world. She meets her long gone grandmother, Betty, and a detective, Owen Welles, who she soon befriends. While still keeping sight of her family's lives through observation docks, she spends her 15.5 years in Elsewhere with them, until she is a baby again, and is wrapped up in a blanket, and sent back to Earth with no memories of her former life. At first, Liz thought her new life on Elsewhere was terrible, but slowly, she adjusts to love this new world.

If you like science fiction/fantasy books, or books with an alternate reality, you should read Elsewhere.
